Elizabeth Schneider spent nine years buying garments for a Houston department store before she quit in 2014 to make the jacket she couldn't find on any of her buying trips — heavy, honest, made close to home. She rented a 900-square-foot studio at 1440 Norma Avenue, hired one seamstress, and cut the first fifty coats herself.
Eleven years later, BrightEdge Wears is still on Norma Avenue. The team has grown to nine. The jacket that started the whole thing — now called the Norma Field Jacket — is still our best seller and still cut from the same pattern.
Small runs, hand-finished. We'd rather ship 200 good jackets than 20,000 average ones.
Every garment is cut and sewn in the United States. Most within a day's drive of Houston.

We're nine full-time — Elizabeth, four in production, two in the shop, one photographer, and Rufus the workshop dog who does nothing measurable. Everyone earns above Harris County living wage plus benefits, and everyone gets a jacket their first week.
